Last Wednesday we had the pleasure of joining the team at Norwich Castle Museum for the day alongside their ‘Viking: Rediscover the Legend’ exhibition.
We made a bit of an entrance with our topper dinghy in the Rotunda and some funny looking Viking helmets! Despite some scary looking Vikings, children (and adults too!) had great fun manoeuvring around in the dinghy which allowed a chance to compare and contrast how modern day boats have been adapted from those that the Vikings would have used.
We set a challenge to row all the way across the North Sea from Scandinavia to East Anglia, a trip which the Vikings would have made all those years ago. With help from the museum visitors we very nearly managed to reach land. This shows the scale of the voyages the Vikings undertook to reach new land.
You can find us back in the castle during the Easter school holidays, can we make it all the way across this time?!
